Last two quarterfinalists to be decided at World Cup

6:51 pm on 29 June 2010

The last two quarterfinalists will be decided at the football world cup in South Africa tonight, when Japan play Paraguay and title favourites Spain play Portugal.

Japan, who've show a vast improvement compared to their form in the qualification campaign, will want to turn on more of their recent free flowing style and set-piece quality to beat Paraguay who've been one of the less convincing Latin American sides

But they will have to overcome a world cup jinx whereby no Asian team has ever beaten a South American side in the World Cup.

The winner of the Spain-Portugal match will play either Japan or Paraguay in the quarterfinals.

If Portugal are to advance they'll need Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's most expensive player, to live up to his billing which he's so far failed to do.

In the quarter final matches already decided the Netherlands will play Brazil, Germany play Argentina and Uruguay play Ghana.
