The Warriors prop Steve Price will spend his final National Rugby League season sitting on the sidelines with his leg in a cast.

The Australian international will have more surgery on Friday in an attempt to solve a niggling ankle injury that took a turn for the worst 10 months ago.

Price says the bone around his achilles has been eaten away by infection.

Earlier this season Price announced his 17th campaign would be his last and today confirmed he won't get the chance to play in 2010.

After 313 NRL games in the NRL, 15 Tests and 28 games for Queensland, Price admits it's not the ideal way to see out his career.

Price played the first 11 seasons of his career with the Bulldogs before moving to the Warriors in 2005.

Price says he plans on staying in New Zealand for another couple of years before returning to Australia with his wife and three children.
