The two seeded players left in the last four of the womens draw at Wimbledon, Serena Williams and Vera Zvonereva will meet in the final.

The top seed and defending champion Williams admitted she had to work really hard to fend off a determined challenge from the world number 62 Petra Kvitova 7-6 6-2, while Zvonereva needed three sets the end the fairytale of Tsvetana Pironkova, defeating the little-known Bulgarian 3-6 6-3 6-2 to reach her maiden grand slam final.

Serena Williams will be bidding for her fourth Wimbledon singles title, and her 13th major in all.
