Former footballer of the year wants African coaches

The former African and World footballer of the year George Weah says one of the reasons the African teams did so poorly at the World Cup was because they were coached by European managers, some of whom were appointed just months before the tournament started.

Five of the six African teams taking part in the World Cup were coached by foreign nationals. Only Algeria had a coach from that country.

Weah says it's time the Confederation of African football encouraged African coaches for African teams.
