Springboks delay team naming

5:01 pm on 7 July 2010

The South African rugby team to play the All Blacks in the first Tri Nations test won't be named until tomorrow (Thursday) while they assess injuries to forwards Bakkies Botha and Danie Roussow.

If he's fit Botha's likely to lock the scrum with vice-captain Victor Matfield while Roussow's ability to play lock or as a loose forward makes him a key replacement.

And if they can't play the Springboks still have another world class lock in Andries Bekker.

Injuries mean the All Blacks don't have that sort of depth at lock but head coach Graham Henry's happy with the way Tom Donnelly went in the second test win over Wales when he and fullback Mils Muiliana returned from long injury breaks.

Henry says both players look to be in good form, and are confident about where they are ahead of this week's game.
