Semenya to return to track in Finland

11:17 am on 9 July 2010

The South African world 800 metres champion Caster Semenya will return to competition next week in the Finnish town of Lappeenranta, after an enforced break due to controversial gender tests.

Semenya, who was cleared to compete as a woman by the International Association of Athletics Federations on Wednesday, has not run competitively since undergoing gender tests at the Berlin world championships last August.

The Lappeenranta Games will be held on July the 15th in the south-eastern Finnish town, some 220 kilometres from the capital Helsinki.

Semenya's coach Michael Seme has said she will not compete in the world junior championships in Canada later this month but might run in the African championships, which start on July the 28th.
