Defending two-time V8 Supercar Champion Jamie Whincup has dominated the opening race of the Townsville 400.
Whincup beat fellow Holden driver Garth Tander with Ford's Mark Winterbottom in third.
Jason Richards was the best of the New Zealanders in seventh in his Holden, Shane Van Gisbergen just behind him ahead of Steven Richards in ninth.
Greg Murphy was well off the pace in 23rd.
Today's action includes a new qualifying session and another 200-kilometre race on the streets of Townsville.
