Chavanel wins Tour de France seventh stage

7:30 am on 11 July 2010

The French rider Sylvain Chavanel has won the latest stage of the Tour de France, a 165.5-kilometre race from Tournus to Les Rousses.

Rafael Valls was second and his fellow Spaniard Juan Manuel Garate came home third.

Chavanel's second stage win on the Tour's also seen him reclaim the yellow jersey from the Swiss Fabian Cancellara.

None of the yellow jersey contenders lost time on what was the first day in the mountains and Quick Step all-rounder Chavanel now holds a one minute and 25 second lead on Australian rider Cadel Evans, who improved from third.
