Stricker shoots PGA Tour record

The world number four golfer, Steve Stricker, has set the U.S. PGA Tour's 54-hole record, after firing a nine-under-par 62 at the John Deere Classic to have a six stroke lead.

The American finished the third day with a 25-under total of 188 - one stroke better than the previous three-round mark shared by John Cook, Mark Calcavecchia and Tommy Armour III.

Fellow Americans Paul Goydos and Jeff Maggert are lying a distant second on a 19 under-par 194 heading into the final round.

Goydos, who started the day just one stroke shy of Stricker, says the Tour leader is playing great, and is going to be very difficult to beat if his form continues.
