Warriors beat Panthers to move to 6th

7:34 pm on 11 July 2010

The Warriors overcame some tough refereeing calls to secure their fourth straight National Rugby League win, defeating the second-placed Panthers 12-6 in Penrith.

The Warriors dominated the early play, gaining plenty of metres out of dummy half, and Lewis Brown sent James Maloney away for the opening try of the match in the 15th minute.

Warriors wing Manu Vatuvei scored a spectacular try off an Isaac John kick to take the score to 12-0, before Lachlan Coote scored for the Panthers just minutes before half-time.

Both teams were unable to score in the second half.

The Warriors gave away 11 penalties to Penrith's three, and were forced to make 70 more tackles than the Panthers following plenty of dropped ball.

But the Warriors clung on to move to sixth spot on the ladder, while Penrith remained in second.
