The New Zealand Women's hockey team have lost their second game in the Champions Trophy in England going down 3-1 to China.

They came up against a determined China side which did not want to repeat its loss of a week ago to the Black Sticks at the Four Nations Trophy in the Netherlands.

The Black Sticks Coach, Mark Hager, says his team were outplayed by the world's number three ranked team and they failed to take advantage of their chances to score.

The Black Sticks Women's next game is against Argentina on Wednesday morning.
