The Melbourne Storm rugby league club are expected to learn the extent of their salary cap rorting when the NRL club's owners deliver the results of their independent audit on Wednesday.

With speculation mounting as to just how many players the Storm will have to shed in order to get under the cap in 2011, owners News Limited said the magnitude of the breaches would be revealed this week.

News Limited instigated an audit of the club's books after the Storm were found to have systematically breached the salary cap over the last five seasons.

The NRL said Melbourne would be barred from earning competition points while the club was over the cap.

The Storm aren't the only ones anxiously awaiting the report, with their NRL rivals also waiting to see which players could be available in the event of a fire sale.
