Young Football Ferns go down to tough NSW side

2:35 pm on 14 July 2010

The New Zealand Under-17 women's football team continued their three match tour of Australia with a 2-1 loss in the second game against the New South Wales Institute of Sport in Sydney last night.

Olivia Chance put the Young Football Ferns ahead in the sixth minute but the home side scored in the 28th and 50th minutes to pull ahead.

The New Zealander's notched a 2-nil win over the same opposition on Sunday, but NSWIS fielded an older side - including three players capped for Australia's senior team - in the second match.

Despite the result the New Zealand coach Dave Edmondson was happy the team received a solid workout as they build towards September's FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Young Football Ferns complete their tour with a match against W-League club Sydney FC on Thursday.
