Phil Mickelson hopes some advice from three-time British Golf Open champion Sir Nick Faldo will increase his chances of a first Claret Jug at St Andrews this week.
Faldo won by five strokes at the Old Course in 1990 and world number two Mickelson sought his experience during a practice round.
Mickelson's won three Masters and one USPGA title but has failed to win either the US or British Open.
He interrogated Faldo about avoiding bunkers, what shots to play into various greens and what allowed him to so dominant in his 1990 win.
Mickleson thinks the Old Course represents his best chance on the circuit of winning the championship, as there's more room off the tee than at other Open venues.
Mickleson says he's never felt so enthusiastic about his chances in the buildup to an Open championship.
To add to his motivation, the San Diego left-hander is poised to finally dislodge Tiger Woods from the world number one spot, although he insists that'd merely be the icing on the cake should he win.
