Storm want Fab Four despite blowout

4:46 pm on 16 July 2010

Melbourne are refusing to waver from plans to retain their `Fab Four' despite fresh claims their National Rugby League salary cap rorts are almost double initial estimates.

Chairman Rob Moodie says the clubs's determined to maintain the core of its side.

That's despite revelations the Storm breached the cap by $3.2 million over five years - nearly double the initial estimate of $1.7 million.

However, Moodie is confident the club can shave $1.3 million in player payments and still retain Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk and skipper Cameron Smith, who would take up half the club's 2011 salary cap.

Proposed salary cap amendments cap mean the Storm may need to shed only $1 million in payments.

News Limited's independent audit of the Storm's books is due this week.
