The Melbourne Storm rugby league player, Greg Inglis, is tipped to sign a multi-year deal with the Brisbane Broncos on Monday.
The news comes just 48 hours after a News Limited commissioned report revealed Melbourne had exceeded the salary cap by more than 3-and-a-half million dollars [nzd] over the past four seasons.
Earlier this week, Inglis's manager, Allan Gainey, knocked back Brisbane's one and only offer of more than 450-thousand dollars-a-season [NZD] .
But Gainey's understood to have contacted the club on Thursday to re-open negotiations.
It's believed Brisbane have stood firm on their initial offer.
Inglis is expected to sign a two-year deal with the six-time premiers on Monday unless something unexpected happens over the weekend.
