Goalline technology debate left off agenda

7:42 am on 21 July 2010

Goal line technology won't be discussed by football's law-makers in Wales this week, despite an assurance from FIFA president Sepp Blatter during the World Cup that it would be.

The technical sub-committee of the International Football Association will meet in Cardiff on Thursday.

However, there will be only one item on the agenda which was set in May: the continuing experiment with additional assistant referees behind the goals as trialled in the Europa League last season.

After England's disallowed goal against Germany in the second round of the World Cup on June 27, Blatter said it would be a nonsense not to reopen the file on goal line technology.
