Deans supported by former Wallabies captain

The Wallabies coach Robbie Deans has been given the thumbs up by the revered former Australian rugby captain Andrew Slack going into their most challenging campaign in Tri-Nations history.

Slack, who's just been inducted into the Wallabies Hall of Fame, says the current under-fire Australian squad could conceivably play well and still lose all six Tri-Nations matches against the world's top two teams, and if that happened it would be crazy to sack Deans.

Deans contract runs until the end of next year's World Cup and the ARU is demanding better results than his 56.3 per cent success rate.

Slack called for their senior players to take a leaf out of the All Blacks book and "maintain the rage" in intensity for the entire 80 minutes on Saturday night in Brisbane.
