Better second day for Aussies at Headingley

5:58 am on 23 July 2010

It's been a much better second day for the Australian cricketers in their first test against Pakistan in Leeds thanks to all rounder Shane Watson and senior batsmen Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke.

Watson produced an inspired spell of swing bowling to take a career best 6 for 33 in Pakistan's first innings total of 258, then Ponting and Clarke combined in an unbroken third wicket partnership of 81 runs to see Australia through to 132 for 2 in their second innings.

After being skittled for 88 in their first innings, Australia are still 38 runs away from wiping out their deficit.
