Tew asks De Villier's to explain comments

The New Zealand Rugby Union has asked its South African counterparts for a please explain following comments from the Springboks coach Peter De Villier's suggesting the All Black's victories over his side in the year's first two Tri-nations tests were the result of a conspiracy.

As South African officials took action against allegedly inconsistent refereeing and judicial rulings, De Villiers went further by insinuating the All Blacks were given a leg-up in the Tri-Nations to help swell excitement for next year's World Cup.

The Chief Executive of the NZRU Steve Tew says De Villiers comments are completely unfounded.
