The All Whites striker Shane Smeltz could be playing with Gold Coast United again as soon as Sunday in a home friendly against North Queensland.
The A-League club has refused to go into detail about Smeltz's abrupt return after only five days in China and all he's saying is that his transfer to Shandong Luneng fell through for personal reasons.
Smeltz says he went with all the right intentions and has no issue with the Chinese club or with China.
United's chief executive Clive Mensink says the matter's been dealt with but they can't go into details because it's commercially confidential.
Smeltz has another two seasons left on his United contract but could still leave as other overseas offers are expected before the August 31 transfer deadline.
