Spainish driver Jorge Lorenzo has taken his fifth consecutive pole at the United States Grand Prix in Laguna Seca.
His only real challenger for pole was Australia's Casey Stoner, but Lorenzo beat him by 0.19 seconds to take the top spot.
Lorenzo's team-mate, Italian Valentino Rossi, continued to struggle with the physical demands of the American track, following a shoulder injury in April, and will start from sixth.
