Green-Briggs fight to be investigated

A retired judge has been appointed to the investigation into match-fixing claims in the cruiserweight title fight between Danny Green and Paul Briggs in Perth last week.

Bookmakers called for a Professional Combat Sports Commission investigation after an unprecedented amount of money was placed on a first-round knockout in the lead-up to the bout.

Paul Briggs went down just 29 seconds into the fight.

Commission chairman Simon Watters says retired WA Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Miller QC has agreed to assist the investigation.

Watters says the next step in the process is police involvement.
