Bekker out for the year?

7:59 am on 28 July 2010

The Springboks may not have the services of star lock Andries Bekker again this year.

According to reports in South Africa, Bekker has been ruled out for the rest of the year with the back injury that saw him return home early from the Springbok Tri-Nations campaign.

Meanwhile the Springboks will have to get over their dislike for Irish referee Alain Rolland's refereeing very quickly -- they have a return date with him in a few weeks' time.

Rolland has been awarded the Tri-Nations test at Loftus Versfeld against the Wallabies.

The Springboks called him inconsistent in his performance in the test between New Zealand and South Africa in Wellington earlier this month.

Wales' Nigel Owens will take charge of the Soccer City clash between South Africa and the All Blacks on August 21st.
