Counties Manukau have made a great start to the provincial rugby championship, upsetting Otago 29-13 in Pukekohe.
The Steelers led 22-6 at half-time, exploiting turnovers with tries to winger Ahsee Tuala, centre Siale Piutau and fullback Tim Nanai-Williams.
Otago's comeback chances all but disappeared early in the second half when Tuala intercepted a pass and ran almost the length of the field for the bonus point try.
Fullback Chris Small scored a late try for Otago, whose other points came from two Glenn Dickson penalty goals.
Otago's next match is against Southland at Invercargill in a week, with the Ranfurly Shield at stake.
