Falau the key as Broncos tame Dragons in Brisbane

6:06 am on 2 August 2010

The power and brute strength of Israel Folau proved the difference for Brisbane as the Broncos emerged as 10-6 winners from their NRL rugby league battle with St George Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium.

Folau busted through four Dragons defenders in the 30th minute to give Brisbane a 4-nil half time lead and then at the same mark in the second half scored a contentious four pointer.

The Dragons claimed Folau had illegally taken out half Ben Hornby as he chased down a Peter Wallace bomb in the 71st minute.

The Broncos veteran Corey Parker slotted the conversion for a 10-nil lead with just 10 minutes left.

The Dragons hit back through winger Brett Morris but couldn't breach the Brisbane defence again.

The Broncos halfback Peter Wallace and Dragons lock Beau Scott were placed on report over an incident in the 14th minute when Wallace hit Scott high and the NSW origin representative appeared to throw an elbow at the Bronco.
