The New Zealand men's hockey team suffered its second defeat at the Champions Trophy in Germany, going down to the hosts 5-2 in Monchengladbach.
It was a much improved performance from the Black Sticks following their humiliating 9-1 defeat to Australia in their opening game on Sunday.
Germany are now two from two at the tournament, claiming top spot on the points table.
