No contingency plan for Commonwealth Games

There's no contingency plan if one of the Commonwealth Games venues in New Delhi is deemed structurally unsafe, the Games' chief executive says.

Following claims of shoddy building work and fabricated quality certificates, the Commonwealth Games Federation is awaiting assurances that all venues for the October Games are structurally sound and, if remedial work is required, it will be done in time.

Federation chief executive Mike Hooper won't speculate about the claims ahead of a report from Games organisers expected later this week, but says no back-up plan had been discussed in the case of a venue being deemed unusable.

Just two months remain before the Games, which will see athletes from 71 countries compete in 17 events.
