Tana gets Counties focused for Shield challenge

The Counties-Manukau rugby side will need to continue its improved form this evening if it is to create some New Zealand rugby history.

Two unbeaten sides feature in round three of the provincial championship with Southland defending the Ranfurly Shield against Counties-Manukau.

Counties have unsuccesfully challenged 21 times, but with wins over Otago and Wellington under their belts, there is some renewed confidence this season.

They also have the 37-year-old former All Black captain Tana Umaga helping out.

Playing for Wellington Umaga never won the Shield and he says he's told his players how tough it is and so they need to focus on their performance rather than the result.
