The All Blacks halfback Alby Mathewson is leaving Wellington and will play for Auckland in next year's national provincial championship.
Mathewson, who made his Test debut in the win over Australia in Christchurch a fortnight ago, played for the Blues in this year's Super 14, after growing tired of waiting behind first choice Hurricanes halfback Piri Weepu.
Mathewson will play for Wellington against Otago today, after not being required for the All Blacks trip to South Africa, with Jimmy Cowan recovering from a rib injury and cleared to play.
