New Zealand shot putter Valerie Vili has again thrown short of Belarussian rival Nadezhda Ostapchuk at the latest Diamond League meet in London.

Vili threw 19.83 metres while Ostapchuk won it with a throw of 20.27 metres.

The American sprinter Tyson Gay followed up his Stockholm triumph over Usain Bolt by clocking the fastest 100 metres time this season, winning in 9.78 seconds in miserable, damp conditions at Crystal Palace.

Gay easily saw off Jamaica's Yohan Blake, who clocked 9.89 seconds.
