The veteran quarterback Brett Favre has reported to the Minnesota Vikings after three players made a personal appeal for him to return for a 20th NFL season.
Ankle surgery in June appeared set to doom yet another comeback bid from the NFL's all-time leading passer, who has retired with the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and Vikings.
Favre, who'll turn 41 in October, took the Vikings to within one game of the Super Bowl last season.
The NFL season begins in just over three weeks.
