Fien allowed to look elsewhere

6:18 am on 24 July 2008

Experienced utility Nathan Fien has been granted permission by the New Zealand Vodafone Warriors to approach other clubs before coming off contract at the end of the 2009 National Rugby League season.

Fien, who has made 86 appearances for the Warriors since joining the club for the 2005 season, says he wants to investigate continuing his career at another club.

He says he's been told he's not a part of the plans at the Warriors after 2009 and so with that in mind, he's asked whether he can have a look at the market and that if something comes up, the club will look at a release.

Fien says he wants to secure the future for his family.

Fien will again line up for the Warriors at standoff against Melbourne this Sunday, a game that will take his NRL career tally to 178 appearances.
