No change to top four on Tour of France

5:55 am on 25 July 2008

The top four placings are unchanged after the latest stage on the Tour de France.

The Spaniard Carlos Sastre who took the overall lead yesterday, finished with the main bunch to retain his one minute 24 second lead over his teammate Frank Schleck of Luxembourg with the Austrian Bernhard Kohl at 1:33, and Australia's pre-race favourite Cadel Evans at a minute 34 seconds.

The stage winner, for the first time on the Tour de France, was Germany's Marcus Burghardt who was involved in an unusual incident 12 months ago, when he crashed into a dog in the second week of the tour, and was lucky to escape serious injury.

The vital stage is the 53 kilometre time trial tomorrow night, and the tour ends in Paris on Monday morning.
