Legal action pending on runaway Sonny Bill Williams

The NRL and the Bulldogs club are poised to commence legal action against runaway league player Sonny Bill Williams.

The National Rugby League's chief executive David Gallop says they will seek a court injunction to stop Williams playing elsewhere and has warned of severe penalties if an injunction was breached

Williams is believed to be en route to France to pursue a career in rugby with the Tana Umaga coach Toulon club despite having four years to run on his NRL contract.

Gallop believes Williams may not be aware of the possible ramifications of breaking his contract and has called on the International Rugby Board to block the 22-year-old's registration with Toulon.
