Weepu willing to do what is asked of him

The Hurricanes and Wellington halfback Piri Weepu says he's surprised to have been recalled to the All Blacks squad so soon, though he's not sure yet about his role in Saturday's Tri-Nations test against Australia at Eden Park.

Weepu's been brought back following injuries last weekend in Sydney both Andrew Ellis and Jimmy Cowan, and he's yet to hear what the coaches have in mind for him this weekend.

Weepu says he didn't expect his chance to prove that he's still good enough to play for the All Blacks to come so soon.

He says he didn't think he would have a shot so soon as he'd been focusing on the NPC with the Lions and aiming to make the end of year tour.

Weepu says he has been working on his fitness in preparation for the national provincial championship with the Lions but he's not 100 percent yet.

Fellow halfback Taniela Moa of Auckland is also likely to start training with the New Zealand senior side today.
