Despite a near perfect 45 of 46 from star shooter Irene van Dyk, the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic were well beaten in the end by the New South Wales Swifts in last night's Trans-Tasman netball grand final in Sydney.

The Swifts led throughout to win 65-56, although they reduced the deficit to just two points in the third quarter.

The Magic coach Noeline Taurua says they couldn't recover from a slow start.
