When the call came to join the the All Blacks squad the Hawke's Bay hooker Hikawera Elliot was quad-biking with some friends near Napier and thought at first it was a joke by his team mates.
Elliot, brought into the squad as cover for the injured Andrew Hore, says he couldn't quite believe it when the All Blacks manager Darren Shand got in touch.
And it took a couple of texts to his team mates before he actually believed he wasn't being had.
