Japanese officials are denying denying a report that the track cycling sport of keirin may have bribed its way into the Olympic Games.

The BBC says an investigation outlining payments of $3 million from the Japan Keirin Association to cycling's world governing body the UCI.

But a Japanese official insists there has been no wrongdoing before keirin first entered the Olympics at the 2000 Games in Sydney.

Keirin, which involves riders following a motorbike for several laps before a sprint finish, is big business in Japan, its country of origin, generating huge gambling revenues.
