Ricky Stuart backs two year ban for contract breakers

Australian rugby league coach Ricky Stuart has called for a two year ban on players who break their NRL club contracts.

Stuart was responding after Kiwi international Sonny Bill Williams fled overseas in pursuit of a career in French rugby union despite having four years remaining on his Bulldogs contract.

Stuart believes it's time for the sport to show real leadership and enforce a two year stand down rule before players can resume a career in the NRL.

Stuart also accused Williams of letting down his teammates and feels the 22 year old has been given poor advice.
