Team New Zealand managing director Grant Dalton says the New York Supreme Court decision reinstating a Spanish syndicate as the challenger of record is another step in getting the America's Cup back on track.
The court's overturned a previous decision giving the Californian-based Oracle syndicate the right to challenge, and reinstated a Spanish club as the official challenger
Dalton says while that wasn't the outcome Team New Zealand expected, he hopes it means there'll be a regatta in Valencia next year.
He says that would be tight but not impossible and would be the best possible outcome for Team New Zealand and the other challengers.
But the Cup holder Alinghi's New Zealand lawyer Hamish Ross says it'll now be several years before a regatta can be held, with the next question whether Oracle appeals the decision.
Ross says Alinghi was getting ready for a multi-hull challenge with Oracle and there's a lot of work to be done on a full regatta.
