11:39 am on 31 July 2008

A final decision on the fitness of the All Blacks halfbacks Jimmy Cowan and Andrew Ellis for Saturday's test against Australia in Auckland is due later today with Cowan the more likely to be passed fit.

He's quietly confident his strained knee will be okay, freeing him to play and prove he's still got a lot to offer on the field having had to deal with court appearances and alcohol issues.
