Vijay Singh, bidding for his first PGA Tour victory of the year, has a one shot lead after the second round of the World Golf Championship event in Ohio.

Three strokes off the pace overnight, the Fijian fired a four-under-par 66 at Firestone Country Club to go seven under for the tournament and head American Phil Mickelson who also carded a 66.

Australian Peter Lonard birdied three of the last four holes for a matching 66 to lie one shot adrift, level with Americans Zach Johnson, Sean O'Hair and Britain's Lee Westwood who put up a 65.

New Zealand's Mark Brown has produced a five over 75 to be 15 over and last in the field.
