Manawatu has scored a major upset in the Air New Zealand Cup in coming from behind to beat Canterbury 25-24 in Christchurch.
It is Manawatu's first win over Canterbury in 26 years.
They trailed 7-10 at halftime playing into the wind.
In the second half Canterbury had the bulk of the possession but a determined Manawatu defence kept the game tight.
With four minutes to play young star Andre Taylor scored near the posts and the conversion put Manawatu in front.
Canterbury had a chance to gain the win right on fulltime with a penalty from 35 metres, which Canterbury players claimed went over but the assistant referees flagged away.
Both side scored three tries.
