All Blacks trap Dingo Deans' Wallabies

12:09 pm on 4 August 2008

The All Blacks have brought Robbie Deans and Australia back to rugby reality with a 39-10 win in Auckland just a week after the Wallabies won almost as convincingly in Sydney.

It's the first defeat for the New Zealand-born coach since taking over and the four tries to one win at a sold-out Eden Park eases pressure on the All Black coaches after back to back losses and an injury-hit build up.

After conceding an early penalty the All Blacks went ahead ahead with two Dan Carter penalties, and two quick tries to the prop Tony Woodcock.

They led 18-10 at half-time and their dominance at the breakdown and disruption of the Wallaby lineout gathered momentum in the second half, with Ma'a Nonu scoriing tries just after the break and right on fulltime for a bonus point.

Accurate tactical kicking into and with the wind from Dan Carter, who landed five penalities and two conversions, often had the Wallabies back pedalling.

The All Black captain Richie McCaw showed little sign he'd been out for six weeks with an ankle injury and halfback Jimmy Cowan made the most of his opportunities behind a dominant tight five.

The Wallabies now need to win the remaining two Tests against the All Blacks to win the Bledisloe Cup.
