Willering not wanted by Mystics

Northern Mystics netball coach Yvonne Willering has been told she is not wanted next year.

Mystics team manager Mark Cameron says the franchise decided to end Willering's coaching role after a disappointing season which saw the team finish seventh in the 10 team trans Tasman competition, with just five wins from 13 games.

Willering says that after the team lost five of its first six games she offered to resign because concerns were raised about how she was handling the stress. Her resignation was refused.

Willering says she does not believe she suffered from stress, nor did she think there were any selection issues between North Harbour and Auckland players as was suggested in media reports in mid season.

She says she is disappointed in the decision.
