The Rotorua teen golfing sensation Danny Lee has continued his good form by qualifying for the US Amateur championships, the biggest non-professional tournament in the world.
The teenager showed why he's the world's top-ranked amateur by topping his qualifier at the Piper Glen club in Springfield, Illinois.
And he set a tournament single-round record with his second round, a six-under 66 in the afternoon to go along with his five-under-par 67 in the morning.
The win backs up Lee's impressive double at the Western Amateur Championship in Michigan yesterday and he says if he keeps playing like this then he's got a good chance of winning the US Amateur as well.
The US championship is the pinnacle of the amateur game and just getting into it is another huge result for Lee.
However Lee says with his much-improved back swing and short game he's feeling confident he can take the next step and win the US Amateur, which begins on Monday week.
New Zealand golf's high performance manager David Graham says Lee's been working hard to peak for the US Amateur and the Eisenhower Trophy in Australia in October.
Graham says Lee could quite likely be one of the best golfers New Zealand will ever see.
