Thorpe warns pool dominance will end

The great Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe predicts Australia's dominance in the pool will soon come to an end.

Australia's swimming team currently boasts six world record holders and is again expected to bring home most of the country's medals at the Beijing Olympics.

But the five-time Olympic great has warned Australians to make the most of the team's success as the sport's most successful era has to end at some stage.

The 25-year-old is in Beijing to make an address to a forum on "what makes a champion".

He says he's happy to be there as a spectator and has no desire to make a comeback.
