South Africa are resting flanker Schalk Burger and winger Bryan Habana for Sunday's Mandela Tribute rugby test against Argentina in Johannesburg.

Springboks coach Peter de Villiers says Habana has a shoulder injury and Burger a neck injury but could have played if required.

Instead they were being rested ahead of the home leg of the Tri-nations which starts with a test against the All Blacks in Cape Town a week later

The side to play Argentina in the one off test includes two returning World Cup winning stars, halfback Fourie du Preez and centre Jaque Fourie who have both been named on the bench. Both players have been out injured.

There are five changes to the side that lost to Australia in Perth, on July 19.
