The big two of New Zealand rowing have held centre stage at a news conference in Beijing where Mahe Drysdale and Rob Waddell's single scull rivalry at home is attracting international attention with Olympic Games racing due to start on Saturday.
The world champion Mahe Drysdale and Sydney gold nedalist Waddell were flanked by Storm Uru, Emma Twigg manager Andrew Matheson and Carl Meyer.
But Drysdale and Waddell attracted most attention.
Waddell says he hasn't had much to do with Drysdale since their best of three single scull decider at lake Karapiro as he's been concentrating on his new partnership with Nathan Cohen in the double sculls with their heats starting on Saturday.
And Drysdale says he's happy with the way he's got his boat moving.
